ITALIAN POLICE SHOWS UP FOR LONELY ELDERLY TO COOK A HEARTWARMING MEAL

All ages are affected by loneliness, but older folks are more at risk because of things like diminished mobility, social isolation, and the death of loved ones. An 87-year-old Florence woman called the police as a last resort in late 2022 because she was so hungry and alone. Thankfully, the two responding cops were sympathetic to her plight and took the time to prepare a hot dinner for her.

The woman was living alone at the time and had a carer, but sadly, the carer never showed up. She assured him she was OK and demanded he not spend any money on her because she didn't want to put her son through any financial hardship amid the current economic downturn. She called the emergency services after realising she needed assistance after a few hours. She informed the dispatcher, "I'm hungry and exhausted, but I can't cook because my arm hurts." The dispatcher said, "Ma'am, tell me where you're calling from and don't worry." We'll work things out.
