WITH A BRILLIANT RESPONSE, ROBERT IRWIN FINALLY RESOLVES THE VIRAL

The question of who would prevail in a fight between one gorilla and 100 men is currently the subject of an odd online debate. Since the gorilla is the largest surviving primate, many people on social media contend that its power would allow it to dominate. Others argue that human advantages such as endurance, planning, and coordination could lead to victory. The late wildlife conservationist Steve Irwin's son, Robert Irwin, joined in to point out how ridiculous the argument is, questioning not only the result but also why anyone would want to fight a gorilla in the first place.

“ I cannot believe I am weighing in on this right now, but I have been asked this question so much in the last week. It’s ridiculous,” Irwin says in a video. “Just as an animal conservationist, fighting an endangered species just doesn’t sit right with me.” Then he asks the real question we should all be asking:  “How many people does it take to save gorillas?”

The bulk of gorilla populations, including the eastern and western lowland gorillas and the mountain gorilla subspecies, are listed as Endangered or Critically Endangered due to issues like poaching, disease, and habitat degradation. This makes it even more absurd that anyone, let alone 100 people, would want to fight one.

The gorillas most likely don't want to fight us either, Irwin continues. He claims that although gorillas are quite strong and all that, they are also rather laid back. They tend to remain to themselves most of the time. They will protect one another, defend themselves, and do all of that. However, they just go about their business if they don't truly have a reason.

Irwin concludes the film by stating, "Perhaps we don't have to fight gorillas. Let's keep this one a mystery for now. Furthermore, we must all admit that some questions are better left unanswered. Similar sentiments were expressed by a large number of people online, who flooded the comments section with praise and support for Iwrin's sympathetic perspective. One person wrote,  “The main man has spoken. The debate is over.” Now, let’s leave the gorillas in peace.
