ARTIST CLEVERLY VISUALIZES THE LENGTHY TERMS OF SERVICE AGREEMENTS OF VARIOUS SOCIAL MEDIA PLATFORMS

Due to recently enacted data protection laws, you may have observed a recent rise in social media policy modifications. Furthermore, even though a lot of us believe it's critical to understand how our online information is being used, it's unlikely that every social media user actually takes the time to carefully read the terms and conditions of every program. In his piece, I Agree, designer Dima Yarovinsky visualises these long (and frequently daunting) "terms of service" agreements from well-known social media platforms, such as Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat, and Tinder.

Yarovinsky printed the terms on rolls of colored A4 paper using a typical legal contract font size and typeface, which he had created as part of an infographics course at Bezalel Academy for Art and Design. Some of the contracts are so long that they extend from the wall to the floor, allowing spectators to absorb the astounding amount of information when hanging in the exhibition space.

The artist indicates how many words the contract contains and how long it would take the typical individual to read it at the end of each sheet of paper. The artist thinks that it would take 86 minutes to read the entire 17,161-word Instagram guideline, which is the longest of them. "My major purpose was to stress how small, helpless, and destructive we are against these enormous corporates," said Yarovinsky.
