EMPIRE STATE BUILDING HONOURS JAMES EARL JONES WITH PROJECTION OF DARTH VADER
At ninety-three, the legendary James Earl Jones passed away a few days ago. The multifaceted American actor is most known for providing Darth Vader, the renowned villain from Star Wars, with his thunderous voice. He also received three Tony Awards, two Emmys, a Grammy, and an honorary Oscar. The Empire State Building displayed a projection of Darth Vader on its iconic façade as a tribute to his creative output. The iconic observation deck of the Empire State Building featured a picture of Jones and the caption, "Rest in Peace, Lord Vader," on its social media pages. Jones, who enjoyed a legendary career on Broadway, lived in New York City for several years.
The Empire State Building celebrated a Star Wars takeover with an exciting light show featuring Darth Vader and many other characters on March 21, not the night after Jones passed away. That's when the Darth Vader projection happened. The iconic landmark in New York City also shared a video of the incident along with the words, "May the Force be with you James Earl Jones," bringing back memories of the thrill of seeing the antagonist of the movie make an appearance on one of the most well-known structures on the globe.
There were other Star Wars-related homages to Jones. Using a picture of himself and Jones with the caption, "One of the world's finest actors whose contributions to Star Wars were immeasurable," actor Mark Hamill also paid his respects. We will miss him. #RIP, father.
