FAMOUS FLOWER PAINTINGS BY VAN GOGH BROUGH TO LIFE IN BOTANICAL GARDENS
Throughout his short life, Vincent van Gogh was always inspired by his profound love of nature. Many of the Dutch Post-Impressionist painters' well-known pieces, including the well-known Irises and his famous Sunflowers, include flowers in particular. At the New York Botanical Garden's (NYBG) Van Gogh's Flowers exhibit, you can now see Van Gogh's painted botanicals up close. The Van Gogh's Flowers show turns NYBG's 250-acre landscape into a vibrant homage to the Dutch master, with everything from tall sunflower sculptures to a magnificent reproduction of Van Gogh's 1889 painting The Garden of the Hospital in Arles.
Collaborations with immersive artist Cyril Lancelin, who produced the 3D field of sunflowers, and modern artists Lee Baker and Catherine Borowski of Graphic Rewilding helped to bring the botanical displays to life. Additionally, Amie Jacobsen, a sculptor from Kansas City, produced enormous replicas of Van Gogh's still life paintings that included imperial fritillaries, roses, and irises. Additionally, guests can participate in a LEGO Botanical Garden pop-up and a Van Gogh-inspired event called "Plein Air Drop-In and Paint." Additionally, Loving Vincent, an animated movie about Van Gogh's life, will be shown at NYBG on a number of dates. Additionally, the artist's famous swirling skies light up the night during a Starry Night drone show on certain evenings.
