JESSE EISENBERG SAVES LIFE OF STRANGER BY DONATING KIDNEY

Although Jesse Eisenberg has always been committed to donating blood, he is now going above and beyond by giving a kidney to a total stranger. The Oscar-nominated actor responded, "I don't know why," when questioned about his selfless choice earlier this year on the Today show. The blood donation bug bit me. In mid-December, I will be making a charitable donation. I can't wait to do it."

Although not everyone would be thrilled to donate a kidney, Eisenberg felt obliged to take action due to the persistent lack of organ donors in the United States. Nearly 90,000 Americans are waiting for a kidney transplant at any given moment, and 11 people may die every day while waiting for a donor, according to the United Network for Organ Sharing.

Giving a kidney to a total stranger who has advanced renal disease is considered an altruistic gift. Eisenberg and other donors are classified as non-directed kidney donors as they are not giving to a friend or relative.

Eisenberg said, "Let's suppose person X in Kansas City needs a kidney, and their child or whoever was going to give to them is, for whatever set of reasons, not a match, but nevertheless I am." "That individual is still eligible to get my kidney, and ideally, their child will continue to donate their kidney as well. However, it only functions if there is essentially an altruistic donor because it goes to a bank where that person can identify a suitable receiver.

Eisenberg first had an interest in organ donation almost ten years ago, but he wasn't able to make it public until recently, following a visit with NYU Langone Health in New York City. Eisenberg stated, "It's basically risk-free and so required." "If you have the time and the desire, I believe people will see that it's a no-brainer." Additionally, the actor decided to prioritise his family members in case they ever required a kidney donation.

"We appreciate and admire this selfless deed by Mr Eisenberg to step up and provide the gift of life," the National Kidney Foundation said in a statement. Every kidney donor significantly improves the lives of those who have renal disease, and this type of kindness can encourage others to think about living kidney donation.
