EXPLORE THE UNEXPLORED IN AMAZON IN STYLE WITH A LUXURY RIVERBOAT
The enormous, mostly undiscovered terrain that makes up the epic Amazon Basin is still largely unexplored. Since you can only reach there by river, premium travel brand Abercrombie & Kent (A&K)has invented a way to experience it on their new riverboat, Pure Amazon. Launched in mid-2025, this new five-star boat carries tourists through the wildlife-rich marshes of the Pacaya-Samiria National Reserve.
The magnificent reserve is Peru’s largest protected region, covering 8,000 square miles. The low-water season, which runs from June to November, provides excellent opportunities to see uncommon creatures and birds. During the high-water months—roughly December to May—rising rivers flood much of Pacaya-Samiria, creating a vast, water-filled environment to explore from an entirely different perspective.
Designed by architect Adriana Granato of Studio Ibsen, the Pure Amazon riverboat mixes contemporary style with eco-friendly accents, including low-level lighting that reduces interruption to nighttime wildlife. With just 12 thoughtfully built suites, the Pure Amazon’s modest size delivers a highly personal experience while reducing its influence on the local animals.
Guests can enjoy panoramic vistas and plenty of opportunities to watch wildlife and birdlife. Additionally, you can add stargazing, jungle hikes, and skiff excursions to your agenda at A&K. And after a long day of touring, you may savour the riverboat’s menu of Peruvian, Amazonian, and world food.
Additionally, A&K has collaborated with Amanatari, a nonprofit that assists Amazonian Indigenous tribes, and Nueva Arica, an Indigenous village. Through these collaborations, A&K is supporting several "bio-business" initiatives, including the production of honey and the development of natural fibre. Guests on the three-night trips can visit the Nueva Arica settlements firsthand and see these projects in action.
