TERRIFYING HISTORY BEHIND REAL-LIFE ANNABELLE DOLL
Millions of people saw the iconic Annabelle doll come to life in the Conjuring films, but many are unaware of the doll's real-life story. The "real life story" is because the eerie doll that is the subject of the Conjuring films is based on a genuine doll. And who knows if the movies really show what the doll has been doing in its free time? Nevertheless, the doll has a rather fascinating past that will undoubtedly give you the chills. And if you are worried that the "missing" doll might be pursuing you, you had better accept it. I'm afraid there is nothing you can do about it.
What exactly is the Annabelle doll?
Just like in the movies, the real-life Raggedy Ann doll is said to be ‘possessed’ or ‘haunted’, if you believe in that sort of thing.
Although the doll has spent the majority of its life in a cage, some claim it has wandered around and caused mayhem in every home it has visited. When it is often held at NESPR's Warrens' Occult Museum, which was established by paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren, Annabelle has been imprisoned in a wooden cage for horror enthusiasts to view. The doll was originally introduced to the couple in 1970 when they received a call from a worried priest in need of their help. The two were informed that two young nurses thought the doll was possessed by a human ghost. During a taped meeting, one of the nurses, named Deirdre, said she got the doll as a gift from her mother on her 28th birthday.
She said the doll had ‘moved around the apartment by itself’ and had even left creepy handwritten notes that said ‘help me’. Deirdre said, “She moves. She acts alive. When we'd come home from work, it would never be quite where we left it.”
Did Annabelle go missing?
For a long time, there have been rumours that the doll has vanished before, apparently on its own initiative, which has made some people doubtful and others afraid. In a TikTok video that was uploaded last Friday, NESPR principal investigator Dan Rivera stated that she is safe and sound.
"I'm here in the museum right now, and I simply wanna show you guys that Annabelle is in the Warrens' Occult Museum," Rivera stated in her video. She is securely inside her wooden casing.
NESPR’s Facebook account also decided to satisfy the fears of fans and denied the rumour themselves. Writing on a post, they said: “It’s a Rumour... Annabelle has NOT been stolen. The doll is safely in place at the Warren Occult Museum.”
Where is Annabelle now?
Annabelle is currently on tour (in the comfort of her wooden casing) as part of the Devils on the Run travelling exhibition in the United States due to her popularity. Those who got a close-up look at the doll have probably been equally delighted and terrified by the tour, which began earlier this month. Annabelle will attend the 2025 Rock Island Roadhouse Esoteric Expo on October 4 in Rock Island, Illinois, as part of the tour. So, if you think you can muster the courage to go see her, let’s hope you make it back home from the experience... alive.
