THE FIRST CARBON CAPTURE FACILITY TO BE OPERATIONAL EARLY 2025

The climate crisis is primarily caused by excess carbon dioxide, which has been produced by humans particularly vigorously since the Industrial Revolution. Even though it's critical to reduce and prevent carbon dioxide emissions, doing so has proven challenging in a world full of gas-guzzling automobiles and smoke-belching factories. Thus, attempts to remove carbon dioxide from the atmosphere are required as long as it keeps rising. The infrastructure must be built in large quantities to offset the technology's production. Fortunately, a Canadian company called Deep Sky is building a state-of-the-art facility to test various removal techniques for carbon.

The name of the project, Deep Sky Labs, is derived from the creative, scientific nature of labs. The building will be built in a secluded area of Alberta, Canada. The "world's first cross-technology carbon removal innovation and commercialization centre" is how its creators describe it. It will have enough room to test ten distinct approaches to directly capture carbon from the atmosphere. As scaling and incentivizing carbon capture is the ultimate goal of Deep Sky, identifying the most efficient capture techniques is essential.

The devices that clean our air require energy to operate carbon capture. This energy may originate from impure sources. Deep Sky Labs will run entirely on solar energy to avoid this problem.

After being extracted from the atmosphere, carbon will be pumped deep underground for safe storage. To finance the project, Deep Sky is also producing "high integrity carbon credits." Thirty thousand tons of carbon will be taken out of the atmosphere over ten years. Even though in the end it only contributes to the annual carbon emissions of roughly 220 persons, this is a good place to start. The lab will function as a kind of brain trust, bringing together pioneers in the field of climate technology to take on a pressing battle in which carbon capture is indispensable.
