CHICKEN SEAS THE WORLD BY SAILING THE SEAS WITH HER BEST HUMAN FRIEND
Compared to most chickens, Monique leads a very unusual life. She is traversing the world with Guirec Soudée, her dearest friend. At 18, Soudée left France to see the world. In the hopes that Monique might lay eggs for him to eat, he carried her along on his journey after meeting her in the Canary Islands. Monique disproved everyone's claims that a hen would never lay eggs at sea. Monique demonstrated her ability to manage any situation from the first day at sea. She was a pro at navigating the boat, catching flying fish that landed on deck, and catching herself before she fell overboard several times.
Monique may be a chicken, but it appears that she was destined to explore the world's oceans. "They are currently in the west coast of Greenland till the middle of July," Virgine Nolen-Laissy, who oversees the pair's onshore operations, told The Dodo. "They will use the renowned North West Passage to cross the Arctic Ocean and enter the Pacific when the ice melts." Monique has travelled with Soudée on many of his trips, including surfing, and she is becoming an expert surfer. During her time at sea, Monique has become a bit of a daredevil. She even learnt how to skateboard because, well, why not?
Monique is highly interested in how everything operates, enjoys helping with boat maintenance, and keeps track of their travels. Soudée enjoys taking Monique on all of his escapades, and she may be the only sailing, surfing, and skateboarding chicken in the world.
