HEARTBREAKING FINAL MESSAGE OF WOMAN WHO DIED WITH HER FIANCé AFTER DRINKING LIMONCELLO

The cause of death of two tourists was investigated after they were discovered dead in their Vietnamese vacation villa. Greta Marie Otteson, a 33-year-old Brit, and Els Arno Quinton, a 36-year-old South African, were identified as the tourists. The day after Christmas, the two were discovered dead on a bed in a first-floor room in the central Vietnamese city of Hoi An.

The pair had recently announced their engagement and local officials were able to confirm that the pair had registered for long-term temporary residence at the Hoa Chuong villa. Reports state that preliminary inquiries raise the possibility that the two may have ingested a "homemade" limoncello contaminated with the extremely harmful industrial chemical methanol. "Police forensics established the limoncello, which had been delivered, was the source," a source told the Times.

Tragically, Greta appeared to be complaining about the effects of the drink in her last text message to her family before passing away. Greta complained of the "worst hangover ever" and "black spots" in her vision in a WhatsApp text message to her parents on Christmas Eve. The couple chose to sleep it off despite their ill health at the time, turning down a worried friend's offer to drive them to the hospital. "Unfortunately, I believe it was too late by then," a person close to the families added. The following morning, Greta and her fiancé were discovered by hotel staff in a different room close by.

At the time, a spokesman for the Quang Nam Provincial Police said: "The scene showed no indications of ransacking. The phones and possessions of the victims remained undamaged. "We are supporting the family of a British woman who has died in Vietnam and are in contact with the local authorities," a UK Foreign Office spokesperson said in a statement. Despite having a similar appearance and smell to ethanol, which is present in alcoholic beverages, methanol is thought to be extremely toxic and can be fatal in as little as 25 millilitres.

Methanol is frequently found in goods like fuel and solvents, and it is occasionally added to alcohol illegally to make it more potent. Methanol consumption can be lethal if medical assistance is not received right away. It can also result in blindness and brain damage. The couple's families have demanded justice and are committed to finding the truth. "Procedural requirements and due diligence are being followed while the investigation is underway," they said in a joint statement. "Both families are aligned with the authorities in our shared goal of holding those responsible accountable.”
