CONSERVATION PHOTOGRAPHER GIVES FREE FINE ART PHOTO PRINTS TO VICTIMS OF THE LA FIRE
Ami Vitale, a conservation photographer, is no stranger to offering assistance. Vitale is constantly considering what she can do to help others, from bringing attention to the predicament of endangered rhinos on a global scale to co-founding Vital Impacts, a non-profit that uses fine art photography to raise money for environmental organizations. She also continues to set an example by helping fire victims in the wake of the devastating wildfires in Los Angeles.
She is currently giving anyone who lost their home in the LA fires a free print of her photo, A Hopeful Sign. At the Ol Pejeta Conservancy in Kenya, the picture depicts a black rhino relaxing beneath a rainbow. Those who contact 1000prints@vitalimpacts.org can currently order 1,000 copies, which will be shipped as soon as the recipient is prepared to accept them. As part of Vital Impacts' yearly print sale, anyone who adores the print but was not affected by the fire can buy it; the money raised will help protect the Amazon.
Vitale's considerate act originates from a private place. The photographer posts on Instagram, "The thing that upset my sister the most was losing her art after she lost her house in the Ventura fire in 2016." Vitale is taking the initiative and demonstrating that even the smallest actions can make a big difference by contributing to the cause.
A person who loses their home not only forfeits the actual location but also all of the possessions and memories that are associated with it. This picture might help these homeowners create new memories in a peaceful, cosy environment in whatever new space they lost.
