NEW PLANTER USES AI TO TAKE CARE OF YOUR PLANTS WITH SMART SELF WATERING SYSTEMS
Both beginners and some gardening experts have experienced the death of a plant. A shrub can be killed by something as simple as adding too much or too little water, regardless of how much horticultural knowledge one may have. A new device called LeafyPod might be exactly what you need if you enjoy the aesthetic and energy that plants bring to your house but would prefer not to deal with the hassle of caring for them.
This AI-powered smart planter promises to take care of your indoor plants; it's especially good at watering them when they need it. According to the company, "Our top-down watering system simulates natural rainfall, promoting robust downward root growth, while the drainage design avoids waterlogging and maintains soil aeration." You can observe root development in real-time thanks to the transparent inner pot.
Using an app, LeafyPod allows you to keep an eye on the health of your plants. All you need to do is add the plant to the app, fill the water reservoir, and put your plant in the LeafyPod. The integrated AI sensors in the plant then monitor soil, moisture, light, temperature, and humidity, modifying the watering schedule according to the requirements of each plant.
A 1000 ml water reservoir at the centre of the planter needs to be filled once a month or so. The device is 6.8 x 7.9 inches, weighs 2.1 pounds, and uses a lithium-ion battery that can be charged in six hours and lasts for more than three months. This clever planter is currently only offered in white, but additional colour options will be added soon. The goal of LeafyPod, co-founder Cleo Song, is to "balance technology and nature by developing an easy-to-use smart home device that enables anyone to connect with plants effortlessly." "LeafyPod makes plant care stress-free and incredibly fulfilling, regardless of your level of experience with plants."
Plant enthusiasts were immediately drawn to LeafyPod when it debuted at CES 2025 because it allowed users to enjoy the benefits of plants without having to worry about their upkeep. After all, having your jungle has many benefits, such as better air quality and elevated mood. Preorders for this intelligent planter are now being accepted, with delivery beginning in the spring of 2025.
