HOUSE CAT MAKES FRIENDS WITH TINY MOUSE IN HOUSE HE’S SUPPOSED TO CATCH

Little Simon is a sweet cat with a unique technique of ridding his home of any unwanted pests. A couple of weeks ago Simon’s owner, Benjamín Sagredo, started to hear some strange noises from his kitchen. Sagredo wasn’t too concerned about the sounds at first as they were faint and happening only occasionally. 

“We didn’t know what it was. We had seen Simon playing with something under an armchair once, but we didn’t give it much thought.”

After some investigating Sagredo discovered that his trusted Simon was aware of an intruder who had been making these sounds, however his unusual technique of ridding his home from pests is to make them feel welcome. One morning when Sagredo was about to enter the kitchen he discovered something very surprising. At little Simon’s water bowl, Sagredo saw Simon and his new mouse friend both sitting next to each other and enjoying a refreshment. 

The bighearted cat had apparently made friends with the animal he was presumably born to hunt.

“They looked closely acquainted. Simon was being affectionate. I decided to record it. I thought no one would believe me.”

Sagredo was shocked, but seeing Simon’s friendly approach toward the mouse, helped him take on the same view. “I felt for the little mouse. I couldn't dream of hurting him. I named him Chefcito.”

Sagredo did take little Chefcito and moved him outside, but evidently, Chefcito did indeed feel welcome and returned back. “He’s been back several times. We love that Simon accepts him. He’s a very affectionate and sociable cat. If Chefcito keeps coming, we’re going to have to adopt him.”
