LOVING DUCK BECOMES THE BEST FRIEND AND PROTECTOR OF CUTE TODDLER
Back in 2015,
a little boy became best friend with the loveliest duck. Jennifer Young decided
to add a duckling to her family but never could have guessed how quickly her
baby boy, Tyler, and the little duck would have bonded.
Beaker the duck, who also goes by the nickname, Bee, and Tyler have been best friends ever since. Jennifer added that the first word Tyler spoke was "duck," and it came nine months after bringing Bee home.
"They did everything together: play, eat, nap, etc. Luckily
he [Bee] was easy to train with a harness."
Jennifer had kept pet ducks before before having
Tyler, but – by their choice – they'd mostly been outside pets until Bee came
along. Jennifer explained that Bee opened her eyes to how keeping an indoor
duck "isn't nearly as weird as it seems."
"At first I laughed out loud when I learned people kept
ducks inside wearing a diaper. Bee is just as loyal, smart, and sweet as any dog
or cat."
Off course, for the toddler Tyler, this seemed very normal to
have a duck best friend living in the house. He's never really known life
without his feathery, diapered best friend. "As far as Tyler knows, having
a pet duck is the thing to have. He loves his Beaker, and he will tell you just
that."
Jenifer added that she didn't even mind having both a
toddler and duck in diapers, even though Bee sometimes ripped his off. With their unbreakable bond, little Bee follows Tyler around whenever he would
toddle around the house. "From the time these two get up till the time
they go to bed, it's chaos."
Bee would sometimes beg Tyler for food while he was eating
and, being two peas in a pod, Tyler would sneak him whatever he wanted.
Jennifer explained that the two could even tear Tyler’s room
apart in just five minutes of playing. When the two get caught in the action,
Jennifer added, the two look equally guilty.
Jennifer added that "Bee could be very protective of his
boy. If I am holding Tyler and he's crying, Bee is at my feet quacking, making
sure he's not hurt."
Five years after Bee arrived, Jennifer welcomed another baby
(and another duck in diapers).
