MAN PURPOSEFULLY GETS BITTEN BY A BLACK WIDOW TO PROVE MYTHS WRONG
A YouTuber purposefully got a Black Widow spider to bite him to demonstrate a rather strange point, and he recorded the incident. Jack Schonhoff has all the answers if you've ever wondered what it feels like to have spider venom running through your veins. Jack frequently writhes in agony while rating some of his most graphic experiences with nature's most dangerous creatures, including bites and stings, on his educational wildlife YouTube channel. He also hosts a series called "How DEADLY is the bite of..."
This is where Jack chose to test the Black Widow spider bite, as the sinister title of his series implies, and it makes for some pretty unsettling viewing. According to Adam's Pests, the spider has a remarkable reputation, but only a small percentage of those bitten perish—roughly four out of eight people per year are killed by its toxic venom. However, the website explains that those who do die typically already have compromised immune systems or have experienced an allergic reaction to the venom. However, that's not to say you should put the limits of your health to the test and try and get a Black Widow to bite you as Jack showed the impact of the bite is still pretty gnarly.
The venom can leave you in a huge amount of pain and discomfort, including lower back pain, which Jack described as 'the most painful it's been in my entire life.'
Even worse, the YouTuber had to wait nearly two weeks to feel "totally normal" once more. Jack shared the video despite the excruciating pain to show that Black widows are not always to be taken lightly, but they also don't necessarily carry the death penalty that their reputation implies. He went on to say: "Basically, [the bite] is awful, it hurts, but it's not going to kill you." "Once more, these widow spiders are extremely hesitant to bite. According to reality, a black widow will only bite you if you pin it to your skin. To avoid getting bitten by one, Jack added: "So if you're leaving your shoes outside, check your shoes. If you're leaving stuff in you're garage that you're putting on, check it before you put it on.
That's all there is to it. These spiders aren't violent. It doesn't mean that other spiders will be as understanding just because the Black Widow won't kill you. Because of its extremely strong venom, which can easily be fatal, the Brazilian Wandering Spider is probably one you should stay away from. Fortunately, there is an effective anti-venom. Additionally, if you come across an Australian native known as the Funnelweb, you should flee immediately because, if treatment is not received, its venomous bite could kill a healthy adult in three days.
