MASSIVE DESTRUCTION BY 7.7 MAGNITUDE EARTHQUAKE THAT STRUCK MYANMAR CAUGHT ON VIDEO

On Friday, March 27, at 12:50 p.m. local time, a terrible earthquake struck Myanmar. The 7.7-magnitude shock happened near Mandalay and rippled throughout Southeast Asia and China. The repercussions have been disastrous; the death toll is at least 2,000 people, with many more missing.

Since Myanmar is in the midst of a civil war, there isn't much information flowing from the nation, so we probably won't know the full implications of what is happening there. But we do know that Myanmar is located on the eastern side of the Alpide Belt, which is one of the seismically most active regions on Earth. Pagodas have reportedly fallen, Buddhist monasteries and monuments have been reduced to rubble, and 20 million people lack access to adequate food and shelter.

Neighboring nations have also been devastated by the knock-on consequences. The collapse of a high-rise building in Bangkok, Thailand, that was still under construction, is among the most well-known incidents. As of Sunday, March 30, over 75 individuals remain missing, and 11 people were killed in the collapse.

Social media allows us to witness personally how frightening and confusing this is. TikTok users have posted bizarre images of full Olympic-sized pools in Bangkok, splashing back and forth as though they were weightless. Water trickles down the structures from the sides. It demonstrates the great might of nature and how helpless we are in the face of it.

Humans have demonstrated their ability to withstand peril and seemingly insurmountable obstacles despite the destruction. There are numerous accounts like this, but one involving the Bangkok Police General Hospital squad has gone viral. As the earthquake started, Dr. Toey and his crew were operating on a patient. They understood they had to proceed with the procedure to reduce health risks, so they decided to relocate the patient to a safer location. They finished the remainder of the surgery in ten minutes in that secure haven outside.
