NEW NETFLIX CRIME DOCUMENTARY BRANDED AS ONE OF THE BEST IN A LONG TIME

Viewers are calling a new true-crime documentary that follows the life of an Elvis Presley impersonator that has arrived on Netflix the "best to be released in a long time." Many people imitate the King of Rock 'n' Roll, but few have Kevin Curtis's backstory. The three-part Netflix documentary, which was released this month, tells the story of Curtis's day job as an Elvis impersonator and janitor, where he discovered a disturbing discovery in a morgue.

What Curtis discovered sent him down a rabbit hole on the internet, where he became entangled in conspiracies that ultimately cost him his wife, his friends, his job, and his relationship with his kids. Curtis was adamant about exposing the "dark underbelly of Tupelo" in Mississippi, the US state where Elvis Presley was born. His endeavour ultimately led to a rivalry that spanned to Washington, D.C. When Curtis was accused of sending letters laced with ricin, a deadly poison, to government officials, including then-President Barack Obama, his peaceful Tupelo home was raided by dozens of police and federal investigators in April 2013.

After being taken into police custody, Curtis was forced to fight to get his name cleared. When authorities questioned the Elvis fan about his knowledge of ricin, Curtis was the only one to respond that he had not eaten rice in years and could barely stand it. The likelihood that Curtis had been set up grew as investigators carried out their investigation. The Kings of Tupelo: A Southern Crime Saga, which was produced by Emmy-winning filmmakers Maclain Way and Chapman Way, includes interviews with Curtis' friends and family in addition to a few individuals who are portrayed as his adversaries. The plot twists and turns have left viewers gripped.

"Kings of Tupelo: A Southern crime saga on #Neflix is absolutely the BEST documentary to have come out in a very long time!," one fan wrote on Twitter after coming across the series.

"Watching the “The Kings of Tupelo: A Southern Crime Saga” on Netflix! It's wild !!!," another commented, adding: "What a story !!!! Wow. Highly recommend it."

A third wrote: "Stop what you are doing and go watch this. Pure entertainment. Check out “The Kings of Tupelo: A Southern Crime Saga” on Netflix."

The series has received a high score of 82 percent from audience members on Rotten Tomatoes and is available to stream now.
