STEPHEN HAWKING GIVES SIMPLE ANSWER ON WHETHER HE BELIEVES IN GOD
As one of the most well-known scientists in the world, you might be curious to know Hawking's thoughts on religion and heaven. After all, there are frequently conflicts between science and religion, such as creation versus the big bang theory. Religion, of course, is based on spiritual beliefs, whereas science is usually based on observation and evidence.
Hawking was a well-known author, cosmologist, and theoretical physicist who passed away in 2018 at the age of 76. His work in general relativity and quantum gravity, as well as his 2002 book The Theory of Everything: The Origin and Fate of the Universe, are what made him most famous. "For centuries, it was believed that disabled people like me were living under a curse that was inflicted by God," Hawking wrote in his final book, Brief Answers to the Big Questions, about his disability and the relationship between religion and God. I guess I might have irritated someone up there, but I'd rather believe that everything can be explained by the laws of nature.
"If you believe in science, like I do, you believe that there are certain laws that are always obeyed. If you like, you can say the laws are the work of God, but that is more a definition of God than a proof of his existence."
Hawking continued by discussing his thoughts on the existence of God and the afterlife.
"We are each free to believe what we want and it’s my view that the simplest explanation is there is no God," he explained.
