MARIAH CAREY SONG BREAKS RECORD BY HITTING #1 FOR 20 DIFFERENT YEARS

Since its 1994 release, Mariah Carey's "All I Want For Christmas Is You" has dominated holiday playlists. Despite being known as "The Queen of Christmas" as a result of this, her reign is far more extensive than that. Carey broke another record this year when her holiday song made a comeback to the top of the charts. The pop singer has been at the top of the Billboard Hot 100 for 20 years in a row.

Carey has a lengthy career full of hits, even though younger generations might only know her from her Christmas single. Her success extends far beyond "All I Want For Christmas Is You," as she topped the charts in 1990–2000, 2005–06, 2008, and 2019–24. She initially reached the number one spot in the 1990s thanks to hits like "Vision of Love," "Love Takes Time," "I'll Be There," and "Always Be My Baby." Carey dominated the airwaves in the aughts with songs like "We Belong Together," "Don't Forget About Us," and "Touch My Body."

Much to the surprise of the public, "All I Want For Christmas Is You" didn't climb to the top of the charts until 2019, 25 years after it was first released. And only two years ago did it make it to the top ten. Over the next six holiday seasons, it has topped the charts for a total of 15 weeks. Three weeks in 2019, two weeks in 2020, three weeks in 2021, four weeks in 2022 (its longest run to date), two weeks in 2023, and one week so far in 2024 saw it as the number one song.

Along with a video of her twins, Moroccan and Monroe, presenting her with flowers, Carey shared on Instagram, "Last night on stage in Raleigh, North Carolina, I found out that 'All I Want For Christmas Is You' returned to #1 on the Billboard Hot 100." "There is no better moment or location for me to share the news than on stage with my incredible fans, my children, and my #Christmastime tour family." You all have my undying gratitude and love.

Carey now holds the record for the most weeks that a solo artist has been in the top spot on the Billboard Hot 100. She is followed by Madonna, Michael Jackson, Beyonce, and Paul McCartney (including his songs with Wings), all of whom have been in the top ten in different years. In terms of individual songs, Carey has 19 at the top, which is only one song short of the Beatles' 20-track record. Carey's accomplishments include becoming the first artist to hold the top spot on the chart in four different decades (1990s, 2000s, 2010s, and 2020s).
