9-YEAR-OLD TALENTED DESIGNER SEWN HERSELF AN ENTIRE CLOSET OF CLOTHES

Some creatives find their calling early in life, while others rediscover their passion later. Kaia Aragon, a Colorado elementary school kid, has been making waves online with her handcrafted clothing designs. Vera Wang even gave her a sewing machine! Since November 2021, this gifted 9-year-old has been creating her own clothing, and she hopes to work as a professional fashion designer someday.

Aragon poses in each of the clothes she posts on Instagram to showcase her expanding wardrobe. These personalised pieces include anything from simple tees to outfits she can wear while working out to glitzy costumes crafted from glittering fabrics. "I get inspiration for each design from a different source," Aragon says to My Modern Met. "The one constant is that I exclusively use incredibly cosy and soft materials."

It turns out that Aragon is very motivated by comfort, as she was inspired to create her own clothing after being dissatisfied with the existing options available for girls her age. 

She continues, "The elegant outfits in the little girls' area are so stiff and uncomfortable, which is why I adore creating garments." "When I wear my own clothes, I can look really stylish while yet feeling cosy. So I won't have to change before I go to a tea party and then ride my scooter in the park.

Aragon has created many ensembles, but her favourite right now is a light pink dress with a modest hem design and opalescent sheen. "A white satin dress that I made with fabric that I hand-painted is my favourite outfit I [have] made," says Aragon.
