95-YEAR-OLD POWERLIFTER INSPIRES WITH INCREDIBLE STRENGTH DURING 'STRONG GRANDMA' DOCUMENTARY

Catherine Kuehn, who is 95 years old, is a fantastic example of the idea that it's never too late to master a new skill or to do your hardest. As a powerlifter who holds the world record, she demonstrates that being older does not prevent one from reaching greatness. Because of how inspirational her tale is, Cecilia Brown and Winslow Crane-Murdoch of Sideyard Studios recently produced a short documentary on her for the New Yorker called Strong Grandma.

As Kuehn gets ready for what might be her last competition, Strong Grandma follows her. She considers the experiences, love, and grief that have influenced her path throughout the movie. It emphasizes the value of support networks and community, demonstrating that Kuehn's tale is as much about the strength of interpersonal relationships as it is about mental and physical fortitude.

Together with her late husband, Dick, Kuehn began powerlifting in her 80s. In the documentary, she remembers with fondness that "Dick was my biggest supporter." "He was always cheering me on from the front row." "You have to do it while your soul mate is cheering you on," she continues. You really must do it. Despite the sport's challenges, Kuehn has persisted and broken records. "It's been really easy for me because no one my age was doing it," she says.

Kuehn's narrative has, of course, inspired innumerable people worldwide, and Sideyard Studios deserves praise for presenting it in such a beautiful and captivating manner. The directors, Brown and Crane-Murdoch, posted on Instagram, saying, "We are blown away by the response everyone has had to Strong Grandma." It's uncommon to release a movie that doesn't polarize people, especially in this day and age. As Catherine was an inspiration to us, we are thrilled to see her inspire many others.

"Just keep moving," is Kuehn's response when asked for advice on how to live a long, healthy life. Move as much as you can instead than sitting on the couch and watching TV or browsing through your phone.

Strong Grandma just took home the Audience Award at the Denver Film Women + Film Festival and the Special Jury Award at the OLY House Film Festival. Watch the 15-minute documentary for yourself by scrolling down.
