ARTIST CREATIVELY TRANSFORMS ROCKS INTO REALISTIC ANIMALS

Akie Nakata, a Japanese artist who goes by Akie, offers a distinct perspective on the world. Many people would just ignore a rock or stone, but Akie can see its potential. She has been using paint to turn common stones into something spectacular for the past nine years. These rocks transform into incredibly lifelike creatures that fit in your palm while being closely monitored by her.

Akie meticulously creates each animal with tiny brushes and acrylic gouache, without the use of a pen. Actually, the moment she sees a rock, the creative process starts. The animal it will become is inspired by its natural shape. She told a media outlet, My Modern Met, "I take my interactions with stones as signals to go ahead and paint what I see on them since they have their own intentions."

Akie can miraculously bring any animal to life in front of us, from adorable dogs and inquisitive cats to different amphibians, birds, and mice. Because of her talent, she has a large following on Facebook and Instagram, where her stones are typically rapidly sold out.

On occasion, Akie will also share pictures of her rock art before and after. Akie's art is much more striking when compared side by side. With Akie, anything is conceivable. Natural marks could become eyes, and a pointed edge could become a nose. The artist's only goal is to make the animal come to life and hope that its owner will love it as much as she does.
