NEW BERLIN PUBLIC LIBRARY GOES VIRAL WITH CREATIVE MARKETING VIDEO ON THEIR TRUSTWORTHINESS

Public libraries, along with a little humour and pleasure, are more important than ever in a time when book bans and attacks on academic, literary, and resource institutions are on the rise across the United States. Wisconsin's New Berlin Public Library is aware of this, and they have just developed a creative method to utilise comedy to reach an even larger audience. The library posted a video of two employees getting ready to do a trust fall on its Instagram page on October 3. But instead of confronting her colleague, one of the librarians quickly moves out of the way to address the camera.

A coworker hurries out from behind the circulation desk in amazement as another colleague thuds into the air behind her, most likely from colliding with the ground. "Everyone cannot be trusted," the librarian asserts. "However, you can rely on the New Berlin Public Library to provide you with resources, excellent programming, and hundreds of books—all at no cost."

A dramatic shot of the woman sprawled down on the ground, representing the "trust" fall gone bad, concludes the clip. The entire scene's humorous timing struck a chord with a lot of people, which caused the video to go viral. The post garnered hundreds of thousands of likes and thousands of comments in a matter of days.

One person commented that the "woman behind the counter was an integral part of this video," while another said, "Whoever is handling this account needs a raise." The library released a follow-up video on October 8 after several people questioned whether Susan, the woman who fell to the ground, was okay.

Set to the popular song "Hope" by Twista and Faith Evans, this audio shows Susan behind the circulation counter grinning broadly at a patron when she checks out their library book.

The video reassures viewers that Susan is fine. Susan didn't even fall. Susan kept assisting patrons with library book checkouts. Susan enjoyed spending the weekend at home reading in her hammock.
