DANISH MINISTER GIFTS EGYPTIAN FOREIGN MINISTER A PYRAMID OF GIZA LEGO SET

On November 1, the eagerly awaited Great Egyptian Museum formally opened. Numerous heads of state and foreign visitors, including Dutch Prime Minister Dick Schoof, German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier, and King Felipe of Spain, came to celebrate this historic occasion. But no one appears to have left as much of an impression as Lars Løkke Rasmussen, the foreign minister of Denmark. The government official arrived with an ingenious present that embodies both Egypt's and Denmark's cultural heritage.

Rasmussen gave Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty a LEGO Architecture Great Pyramid of Giza set during their meeting, which highlights what is likely the most well-known feature of both nations. Like a child opening a gift, the Danish minister posted a photo of the moment on Instagram, capturing the enormous pleasure the gift brought to his host.

"This isn't a sponsored post, but LEGO is a well-liked present everywhere," Rasmussen wrote. "The enormous pyramid of Giza LEGO set impressed my Egyptian colleague, Badr Abdelatty." On the day that the Grand Egyptian Museum formally opens for business, I felt it was a fitting gift. Egypt gave Denmark a replica of the Tutankhamen death mask in exchange.

The Great Pyramid of Giza set, which consists of 1,476 pieces, depicts the monument's magnificence at its height, replete with tunnels and chambers inside the pyramid and ancient boats called feluccas on the nearby River Nile. Because it is the only LEGO Architecture set to date to show a landmark as it would have been centuries ago rather than as it is today, Brick Fanatics say the gift has an even more unique meaning.
