FAITHFUL DOG STAYS WITH LOST BOY EVERY STEP THROUGH THE WOODS
A family in New Jersey has had every parent's worst nightmare, but luckily it had a happy ending. Parker, 4, and his father, Jason, were baking cupcakes when his father came out of the bathroom. A few minutes later, Jason returned to the kitchen, but Parker was nowhere to be seen. That's when the panic sets in when Jason realises his son and their black lab Toby came out the back door.
Jason immediately called his wife Vicky to let her know that Parker was missing. She told him to call the police on the way home. Your home is surrounded by woods and connected to a golf course. After an hour of searching, they still couldn't find the toddler or Toby.Luckily, a neighbour heard the boy crying in the woods and called the state police.
The body camera of the first soldier to reach the boy captured the incredible moment Parker was found. Though shocked and crying, he was otherwise unharmed and threw himself straight into his mother's arms. What upset him the most was that he lost his shoe and yelled, "I want my shoe!"
Parker and Toby were about a quarter mile from their home when they were found, and Parker confirmed that his dog never left his side. Toby also played a crucial role in the rescue, as Ian Emmy, the state cop who found the duo, was the first to spot the dog in the woods.
"First I saw the dog jumping in circles, so I thought it should be around if the dog was there," Emmy said.
Vicki acknowledged that the experience was a reminder that everything can change in the blink of an eye. To make sure Parker and Toby don't embark on more illicit adventures, they've upgraded their home's security and added an alarm that sounds when the doors are opened. And though they never found Parker's shoes, they made sure he picked out a new pair as soon as he got home. Toby also received some extra love for making sure Parker was safe.
