We have all heard the stories of dogs who are not too accommodating when it comes to the mailmen. However one pup in particular is showing other dogs that they can too find a best friend in the postal service workers. The 3-year-old Golden Retriever, Moose found his best friend and waits outside every day to meet the family’s equally friendly mailman.
“Mr. Mailman” was assigned the route that includes Moose’s house back in January 2020. Since then he has been stopping everyday to greet his four-legged friend Moose.
On the first day the two have met, Moose was eager to be let outside when he saw the mailman’s truck approach the house. But instead of starting to bark at the unknown mailman, Moose waited patiently in the driveway, with his tail wagging, until he could finally greet his new friend.
But it definitely seemed as though the meeting was mutual. Once the mailman got out of his truck, he went straight over to the excited Moose who was still patiently waiting and gave him a few loving pats and scratches. Meghan Gruszynski, Moose’s owner explained that the “It was adorable. I loved how much he loved our boy and loved how much Moose loved saying hi to him.”Since then Moose’s mother began filming the encounters her dog had with the mailman which only gets more adorable every time.
It’s clear that the love between the two continues to grow more and more with each encounter. Mr. Mailman does not skip a day to greet his now best friend. In one adorable video, during winter he even tosses snowballs at Moose, who was extremely happy to catch them in his mouth.
Gruszynski recently discovered that the mailman’s own dog sadly passed away, so his daily meetings with Moose are particularly appreciated. Moose’s family has welcomed the mailman into their lives as Moose’s best friend and hopes that their love only continues to grow. “Hopefully it continues for many, many years. He’s our mailman 'til he retires, so it should be fun watching their love.”
