NON-PROFIT DONATES FREE LEGOS TO ALMOST 500 000 CHILDREN
The Replay program was introduced by LEGO in 2019 and enables customers to return unwanted LEGO bricks to the company for distribution to children's non-profits throughout the US. LEGO is celebrating the fifth anniversary of its ground-breaking Replay program this year.
Over 161,000 boxes of LEGO bricks have been donated through the program in the last five years, totalling an incredible 580,000 pounds of recycled goods.
LEGO Replay encourages creativity and play in communities that might not have access to toys, which is both a socially responsible and sustainable act. A variety of components from multiple sets are included in each Replay box that is re-distributed to educators and nonprofit organizations, along with an inspirational activity booklet.
Regarding the Replay program, LEGO states that "each LEGO brick contains a spark of magic that ignites creativity and endless possibilities." "You can spread that magic to those who need it most with LEGO Replay."
The program's undeniable impact is demonstrated by the fact that over 485,000 children currently play with LEGO Replay donations.
In a statement, Skip Kodak, the Americas regional president at LEGO Group, said, "The LEGO Replay program highlights the lasting power and durability of the LEGO brick and ensures it stays 'in play' through donations across the country." "This user-friendly, free program revitalises LEGO bricks."
Children were invited to construct decorations for a massive birthday cake made of LEGO bricks at LEGO birthday parties held at Boys & Girls Clubs in Boston and Richmond to commemorate the program's anniversary. Attendees received complimentary Replay boxes at the end of each event.
To encourage learning through play in educational settings, First Book, a nonprofit organisation dedicated to educational equity and a LEGO partner, delivered an additional 1,000 Replay boxes to nearby classrooms.
Through the LEGO Replay website, you can donate your unused LEGO bricks to support a program that promotes sustainability and equity.
