MERCEDES REVEALS NEW LOOK FOR 2026 FORMULA ONE

As the team unveiled its new vehicle on Thursday, Mercedes CEO Toto Wolff announced that Formula One would see "significant change" in 2026.

From 2014 to 2021, the British team dominated the sport, taking home seven drivers' titles and eight constructors' trophies. However, after the latest set of new regulations was implemented in 2022, Red Bull and McLaren surpassed them.

This season, there will be a significant change in the sport with the introduction of new engine and chassis regulations. It has been predicted that Mercedes, driven by Italian Kimi Antonelli and British driver George Russell, will lead.

The team called the 2026 season "the biggest technical shake-up in the sport's history" and unveiled digital pictures of their new W17 vehicle on Thursday.

Compared to its predecessor, the W17 is lighter, thinner, and smaller. "Formula One will undergo significant change in 2026, and we are prepared for that transition," Wolff, the team principal, stated. "The new regulations demand innovation and absolute focus across every area of performance."

Next week, pre-season testing will begin behind closed doors at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya. Additional testing will take place in Bahrain before the Australian Grand Prix on March 8.
