MISSING TEEN SEND FAMILY A PHOTO OF A SHADOW MAN JUST BEFORE DISAPPEARING

Daylenn Pua, then eighteen, set out on a hike up Hawaii's well-known Haʻikū Stairs, popularly referred to as the "stairway to heaven," on February 27, 2015. When he decided to hike, he was spending time with his grandmother, but he hasn't been seen since.

Daylenn was sending his grandmother pictures of his journey as he went, despite her warning not to go; there were 3,922 steps in total. But the 18-year-old stopped receiving photos, and he hasn't been seen since.

He has been missing for more than nine years, despite intensive search efforts to either find him or at the very least recover his body.

In particular, one of his photos raised suspicions because it showed an enigmatic figure crouching. The identity of this figure, known as the "shadow man," is a mystery to most people. It appears to be a crouching figure, but it's unclear exactly who it is.

If this figure is human, they may have been the last person to see him alive, as it appears in one of Daylenn's final photos. It could, of course, have nothing to do with his disappearance, and the 18-year-old could have fallen victim to the dangers and pitfalls of hiking alone on a hazardous trail.

The stairs were decided to be demolished in 2021, and earlier this year, the process of doing so commenced. It is currently unlawful to attempt to access the Haʻikū Stairs and is considered trespassing.
Previously, the public was permitted to ascend the stairs; however, their appearance in a Magnum P.I. episode increased their notoriety and resulted in an excess of visitors.
As a result of using the stairs, several people have been arrested; according to CNN, in the last few months, 14 people have been taken into custody for this reason.
The climb is hazardous due to the destroyed steps, and given the location, it is difficult for emergency services to get there.
The head of Hawaii's Division of Conservation and Resources Enforcement, Jason Redulla, declared that anyone attempting to climb the stairs was being "incredibly disrespectful and self-centred."
