24-YEAR-OLD PREGNANT LAW STUDENT GOES INTO LABOUR DURING EXAM
Briana Wiliams proved that being a parent truly is a superpower and that nothing should stay in the way of your goals. She fell pregnant during her last year of law school but, within a year of giving birth to her daughter, she finished Harvard Law School as a qualified lawyer and admirable woman.
Not only did she attend to her daughter as a single mother, she went into labour just before she was due to write her final exam. Being the fast thinking woman that she is, she asked for an epidural and pushed on, finishing her exam. She did admit that being a single mom who was studying wasn't an easy task at the best of times saying: “Some days I was so mentally and emotionally fatigued that I did not leave my bed.”
She also said that there were often days that she doubted her ability to achieve her law degree but her daughter motivated her to continue to be a good mother and role model.
“Evelyn: they said that because of you I wouldn’t be able to do this. Just know that I did this BECAUSE OF YOU” she wrote on Instagram. Her family is exceedingly proud of her (duh) and she was the only one of 6 of her siblings to go to college despite her fears, saying: “Being in such an intellectually stimulating/rigorous environment was not only intimidating – I was scared shitless”.
Her father pushed her to pursue her dreams and push her fear aside to go for her goals and gave her a little piece of advice: “Because you got something they don’t – you’re street smart. You’re book smart AND you’re street smart” he told her.
An inspirational woman that deserves all the success in the world!
