8-YEAR-OLD ARTISTS OPENS VERY FIRST SOLO ART EXHIBITION
Kevin Kovacs's mother saw his artistic ability as a youngster. He began painting at the age of two alongside his parents, who were both avid photographers, and by the age of five, he had begun drawing seriously. He would find inspiration in the structures and landscapes he saw while travelling with his family to seaside villages in South West England. His mother eventually collected these images and posted them online. After attracting the attention of gallery staff on social media, Kevin, who is only eight years old, held his first solo exhibition at the Tacchi-Morris Arts Centre in Taunton, England.
“For an 8-year-old boy doing that now, what might he be doing in the future?” Andy Pulleyn, the director of the Tacchi-Morris Arts Centre, told the BBC. Several of Kevin's watercolour paintings, most of which feature boats idly floating in the water, are on display. Each composition is nearly Impressionist in style and demonstrates an amazing command of the medium.
The coordinator of the event, Angela Harding, continues, "I was really surprised with the work that he accomplished for his age." "The more I saw, the more I realised that it was a continuous talent rather than a one-time occurrence."
Natalia, Kevin's mother, remembers that on the first night of the exhibition, individuals had even shown interest in buying featured watercolours. The pleased mother told the SWNS news agency, "You can see that he now really likes boats, and he tells me it comes quite easily to him." "I recall hearing from other artists that boats are really difficult to make, but he finds it easy!" Kevin offered a similarly optimistic view of the exhibition: “I am happy that people can see my art on the walls, and I hope for another exhibition in London.”
Kevin’s solo exhibition is currently open to the public through April 28, 2025, at the Tacchi-Morris Arts Center in Taunton, England.
