ACTORS WHO BECAME UNRECOGNISABLE FOR A ROLE
We've all been there. There's a big event coming up and you'll probably bump into some mates that you haven't seen in a while, maybe even an ex that you want to make jealous. But, you've also been spending all this time doing anything but exercising.
So, we all do what fitness experts around the world suggests we don't do: we crash diet and cram as much exercise in as we can.
While for us it probably comes from a place where you want to feel better about yourselves, actors have it slightly harder… well, as hard as it can be to earn millions of dollars for a few weeks of acting.
When Natalie Portman prepared for her role as a ballet dancer in Black Swan, she had to undergo eight hours of gruelling training per day and had to lose a lot of weight. According to the director, Natalie lived on almonds and carrots and, at one stage, said she felt like she might die preparing for this role.
For his role in The Lobster, Collin Farrell had to gain 18kg in just eight weeks. While it might seem like a challenge to some, to us it sounds like a good beer and burger night every night for two months.
In Million Dollar Baby, Hilary Swank not only won an Oscar for her role as a boxer, but she also won the admiration of those in the industry. For three months, Hilary had to box two-and-a-half hours every day followed by two-and-a-half hours of weight training, six days a week.
Yes, we get that it takes a lot for these actors to get in or out of shape, but we're still worried about our extra weight and the upcoming wedding we have to attend.
