ALLISON MACK – FROM SUPERMAN SWEETHEART TO SEX CULT LEADER?
The cast of Smallville is going to need a lot more than Superman to help them out of this situation. As beautiful young co-stars in the Superman-prequel TV series “Smallville,” Kristin Kreuk and Allison Mack signed up for an upstate seminar run by self-help guru Keith Raniere, and they met a real-life supervillain. Raniere was arrested earlier this week on accounts of running a violent sex-slave cult called NXIVM which Kreuk was able to escape before any damage was done but Mack was appointed as Raniere's top sex slave recruiter due to her fame.
The New York Times revealed details about the cult in November saying that there was a secret group within NXIVM called DOS (known as "Lord/Master of the Obedient Female Companions") which manipulates women into having sex with Raniere who is known as "The Vanguard" within the group. Members were required to have his initials branded onto their hips to keep them within the group and manipulated them with threats of revealing personal information and taking their assets.
Following his arrest, Raniere was charged with sex trafficking, sex trafficking conspiracy, and conspiracy to commit forced labor. The federal criminal complaint against Raniere states that there was a woman known only as “Co-Conspirator 1” who was a DOS master who forced other DOS slaves to have sex with Raniere. The court document specifies that the co-conspirator as an “actress” and states that this person appeared in video interviews with Raniere and was mentored by him.
Mack had posted several videos of herself interviewing Raniere in 2017 on a channel called "Keith Raniere Conversations." On Mack’s personal website, a section of her bio reads: “Over the course of several years, Mr Raniere mentored Allison in her study of acting and music.” She has also previously tweeted about being "inspired" by him. "Co-conspirator 1" was also allegedly involved in a NXIVM affiliated group called “'The Source" which was focused on improving actors performance skills. Mack’s personal website says that she and Raniere created the Source with “a small group of equally skilled and dedicated professionals.” The website describes the Source as “a curriculum … to increase one’s mastery of the art of compassion, utilising the disciplines of acting and expression.” She also describes Mack as the president and one of the “top trainers” of the Source.
The criminal complaint labels co-conspirator 1 as Raniere's direct slave. Neither the spokesperson for the United States Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of New York nor Mack's family were willing to make any comments and Mack has not had any criminal charges laid against her as of yet. A former NXIVM spokesperson, Frank Parlato, writes a blog that exposes the inner workings of Raniere’s secret cult and stated that Mack was initially recruited into the group by her Smallville costar, Kristin Kreuk, who played Lana Lang on the show.
However, Kreuk refuted any claim that she was involved in the inner circle of NXIVM or that she has ever recruited sex slaves, saying that: "When I was about 23, I took an Executive Success Programs/NXIVM “intensive,” what I understood to be a self-help/personal growth course that helped me handle my previous shyness, which is why I continued with the program. I left about five years ago and had minimal contact with those who were still involved. The accusations that I was in the “inner circle” or recruited women as “sex slaves” are blatantly false. During my time, I never experienced any illegal or nefarious activity. I am horrified and disgusted by what has come out about DOS. Thank you to all the brave women who have come forward to share their stories and expose DOS; I can’t imagine how difficult this has been for you. I am deeply disturbed and embarrassed to have been associated with NXIVM. I hope that the investigation leads to justice for all of those affected."
A couple of former members have come out to the public, giving the media an inside view as to what actually happens in NXIVM and we can agree to the fact that its pretty cult-like.
