ARTIST TRANSFORMS DISCARDED BOOKS INTO GORGEOUS JEWELLERY
Jeremy May, a London-based artist, creates wearable sculptures that revitalise abandoned books. Images and text are taken from these magazines and fashioned into contemporary necklaces, bracelets, rings, and other accessories. They barely resemble books at all, with their vibrantly layered and patterned designs appearing more like lustrous, fashionable accessories that captivate us with their exquisite curves and shapes.
May creates each piece of jewellery using the same exacting process. He starts it off by going to the thrift store to choose books that inspire him. Then, after carefully removing hundreds of their pages, he laminates them all together. May shapes the paper into tiny wearables and gives them a high-gloss coating to make them shimmer.
