BILLIONAIRE TO BUILD THE TITANIC II
Australian mining billionaire, Clive Palmer, announced six years ago that he would be embarking on a venture to build an original Titanic replica complete with the original interior and cabin layout.
Clive had to pause his Titanic II venture just three years after the announcement as the project had temporarily run out of money, now, Palmer has announced the project will continue. The long-held dream to build the Titanic II will be complete with a ballroom, the same Turkish baths used in the luxury cabins and it will even follow the originally planned route of the first Titanic.
Clive elaborates on the ship's path: "The ship will follow the original journey, carrying passengers from Southampton to New York, but she will also circumnavigate the globe, inspiring and enchanting people while attracting unrivalled attention, intrigue and mystery in every port she visits.
“Millions have dreamt of sailing on her, seeing her in port and experiencing her unique majesty. Titanic II will be the ship where those dreams come true.” he added.
A spokesperson for Blue Star Line, the company behind the Titanic II project, confirmed that no dates had been announced yet as building work has not yet commenced and that shipbuilders are yet to be contracted.
Let's just hope this time there are enough lifeboats for the 2000 passengers and crew aboard the ship!
