BIZARRE AND FUN TOWNS AROUND THE WORLD
Have you heard of the Republic of Molossia? What about Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwyllllantysiliogogogoch?
Yes, they’re actual towns, and we’re about to find out more about them and other bizarre and fun towns around the world.
The Republic of Molossia is located within the United States state of Nevada and, while it’s not recognised by the United States, weirdly enough it still operates as if it does.
It’s got its own currency and president, and with a population of 32, it’s proud to have its own time zone as well.
Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwyllllantysiliogogogoch is a small town in northern Wales. Most of the people in this small town speak Welsh, and the town holds the record for the longest name in Europe.
In Wisconsin, there’s a house on a rock called The House On The Rock. Inside, there’s a room filled with self-playing instruments, an infinity room and a room filled with evil looking dolls.
The House On The Rock was built in the 1940s and opened to the public in the 1960s. There are 269 different animals – fake, of course – within this complex, and also a huge carousel that you can’t ride on.
It’s a complex/small town/weird space/tourist attraction – or just a bunch of trash housed together.
If you’re still in the mood for the weird and the wonderful, you have to make you way to the Dutch town of Giethoorn.
There are no cars in this small town as there are no roads. If you want to get around, you have to make use of a boat and ride on the canals.
Even the local ambulance service makes use of a boat.
