LEGAL REASON JONAH HILL ONLY GOT PAID £48,000 FOR WOLF OF WALL STREET ROLE

It's no secret that Hollywood's biggest stars command high salaries for their parts. However, Jonah Hill received pitiful compensation for his role in The Wolf of Wall Street. For his part in the iconic, ironically money-centric movie, the actor received a meagre $60,000 (£48,000) in compensation, even though he was nominated for an Oscar.

Furthermore, as one might anticipate, there's a chance it could have been much higher. However, by Hill's standards, it could have been even lower, and the reason it was cut at that point was legal.

The now-40-year-old, who starred in the movie as stockbroker Donnie Azoff, said he would gladly accept minimum wage to collaborate with the renowned director Martin Scorsese. He said, "I got to f**king be in a Martin Scorsese movie and I just got nominated for an Oscar," during an appearance on The Howard Stern Show in 2014. "Howard, I'm going crazy... I'm taken aback. I'm utterly stunned."

He would stop at nothing to make it happen because he was so excited about the prospect of working with the Shutter Island and Taxi Driver director.

Even so, the minimum salary for actors is still far higher than what the majority of us make.

"It was their offer to give me the least amount of money possible," Hill stated. "I promised to sign the document tonight. Tonight, fax the papers to me. Before they decide otherwise, I would like to sign them tonight. I stated, "I want to sign them before I turn in for the night so they are unable to legally back out."

After that, radio host Stern interjected to ask whether the actor "got paid $60,000 for that movie."

"It was the minimum," the actor went on. I believe the SAG minimum is approximately $60,000, exclusive of commissions and taxes.

Indeed, for a nearly seven-month filming period. To work for [Scorsese], I would sell my house and give him all of my money. If given the chance, I would have done anything. Without a doubt, I would do it again."

"For me, it's not about money," he continued. This s**t has nothing to do with money.

"My goal is to earn enough money to cover my rent and eventually start a family with children and other possessions." Well, fair enough, worth it for the bucket list – and the Oscar nomination, of course.
