MILLIE BOBBY BROWN – THE FACE OF HOMOPHOBIA

People across the internet have taken the liberty of editing Millie Bobby Brown's photo's adding homophobic captions underneath them, claiming that she had written them herself. Millie has been driven off Twitter after the homophobic comments exploded and she became the target of many hateful, homophobic memes – and she's only 14 years old.

Many Twitter users have also claimed to have met Millie Bobby Brown, saying that she displayed violent behaviour towards LGBT fans and falsely accusing her of hateful behaviour and have started a trending hashtag, #TakeDownMillieBobbyBrown. Many of the images are extremely grotesque, chasing Millie off of Twitter but her second Twitter account dedicated to her activism, @Milliestopshate is still active.

The people who ignited the homophobic meme and those who joined in claimed that the meme was never meant to offend her but it was simply an inside joke of the LGBT community. Others claim that the offensive posts incite humour because they are simply unbelievable because Brown would never behave in such a manner – but such nonchalant attitude towards a serious topic has exploded in a sea of violent and negative memes. Millie and her representatives have not yet made a comment but, despite being an avid anti-bullying supporter, she has basically been bullied off of her own account.

Many Twitter users jumped to her defence, dubbing the violent memes as dangerous and disgusting to be plastering a 14-year-old's face behind homophobic slurs. Those who posted the memes used the excuse of being gay, allowing them to enjoy and laugh at the distasteful joke.
