NUCLEAR-POWERED SUPERYACHT WILL PROVIDE NEW SPACE FOR SCIENTIFIC RESEARCH
As the world population keeps increasing we can’t help but notice an increase in pollution that’s effecting out beautiful world. Not to mention the concerns about the environment as we see a massive change in climate. Various of companies and individual are inspired to act on behalf of the planet’s wellbeing and try to make the world a better and healthier place.
One of those companies that are trying to make a difference is a privately funded company called Earth 300. This company is on the verge of seeking solutions for he most pressing issues of our time. One of the companies projects is to design and create a 984-foot nuclear-powered superyacht which will render as a hub for cutting-edge scientific research on the high seas. The company hopes to invite the world’s most forward-thinking scientists and innovators to embark on research voyages in the super hub.
The CEO of Earth 300 Aaron Olivera, stated that, “We are living at a pivotal moment in human history, facing the greatest challenge since the dawn of man—climate change. So our goal is to ring the climate alarm on a global scale and inspire an era of ecological imagination, spawning a new brand of planetary vanguard, ethical leaders who will support a new economic and ecological vision for the world.”
The mega-yacht shares the same name as the company due to its outstanding 300-meter length. The ship will be equipped with 22 state-of-the-art laboratories that will be filled with the latest tech that will all be housed in an eye-catching 13-story “Science Sphere”. The sphere will sit opposite the cantilevered observation deck. This will ensure that the company meet their aims of Earth 300’s lofty mission. Research on energy independence, water and food security, climate catastrophes, and other important areas of global concern will be conducted on the yacht by brilliant minds.
“Earth 300 will use global systems thinking. Aboard the vessel we will explore the broadest spectrum of standpoints, bringing together the smartest and brightest minds to create an intelligence collective that is unrivaled in scope and diversity.”
Not only does the mega-yacht invite160 of the world’s leading scientists, but will also welcome 20 experts from other fields such as entrepreneurs, economists, engineers, explorers, and even artists. The vessel will also welcome 20 students, and 40 VIP guests on each voyage.
The ship will have features of each category found on many different types of watercraft, including cruise ships, expedition and research vessels, and luxury yachts.
This massive vessel will be powered using a type of nuclear power that is considered to be a safe and sustainable form of clean energy which is 100% emission-free molten salt reactor.
To make this even more research friendly is that the superyacht will also be outfitted with a helipad to accommodate travel by helicopter to and from the vessel as well as exploration by air and will also house a number of underwater vessels to aid in any deep-sea studies.
The project has already been backed by several prominent partners which include IBM, NED-Project, and RINA. With the support of other Earth 300 hopes to launch its maiden voyage by 2025.
“We want to build a global icon for science designed as a scientific sculpture on the seas, to capture people's attention and inspire their imagination.”
