SHELTER DOG DRESSED UP TO MEET NEW FAMILY WHO NEVER SHOW
An adorable pup named Hendrix has been living at the Kentucky Humane Society for almost a year. Hendrix finally thought he’d found a family that he can call his own, however humanity failed him again.
The 4-year-old dog immediately won the hearts of everyone after he arrived at the society last April from an overcrowded rural shelter. Upon arrival he met everyone with his hilarious and playful personality.
“He's almost more pig-like than dog-like because he is constantly snorting. He has a very short nose, so he just snorts and snorts away. He keeps all of us laughing! He also snores obnoxiously loud, and it's quite entertaining to listen to.”
“Hendrix loves people so much and is very cuddly and sweet. He has met kids as young as 5, and he just flops over for a belly rub and snorts in delight.”
After a year of waiting, the playful Staffordshire terrier mix recently got all dressed up to meet his new adopted family at Sam Swope Pet Treatment & Lifesaving Center. He was extremely excited to have finally gotten a place he can call home. The new family had already filled out an application days ahead and the only thing that was left in the process was the meet-and-greet. But they never showed up.
After waiting for several minutes, Hendrix realised that it wasn’t going to be his day.
Megan Decker, media manager at the Kentucky Humane Society, explained that, “We wait over 30 minutes for them, and we never received a call or heard from them. Hendrix was all dressed up in his harness and was smiling ear to ear waiting for them to arrive, only for them to never come. It broke our hearts.”
“Watching him wait excitedly for a family to come, only to be stood up, is devastating,” Kentucky Humane Society wrote on Facebook. “We can't stand seeing our sweet boy sad.”
Even though he got stood up, the brave pup is still looking for someone to love him and give him an enriching life. The shelter staff knows the right family is out there for him.
