THE WINTER OLYMPICS EFFECT
As the Winter Olympics gets on, even those who never watch sport are glued to their TV. There is just something about the grace and precision mixed with a bit of life-threatening danger that creates an addiction. One minute you have no clue about half the sports in the Olympics, the next you're talking about triple twists. There we find ourselves, staring at the TV, popcorn bowl in lap, insulting the athletes who didn't nail their double forward somersault, knowing damn well we probably would have broken our neck in attempting any of these stunts.
The bizarre facial expressions and physical prowess of the athletes make it impossible not to pick a favourite and scream at the TV as they compete. Let's not forget the teen who rocked up late to his event because he overslept, swore on TV and then won a gold! He probably gained a whole lot of fans after that day and we hope that one day oversleeping will be turn out to be even half as great as this!
