VIDEO: BROOKLYN NINE-NINE HAS BEEN SAVED BY A HERO CALLED NBC
Brooklyn Nine-Nine has been saved by the fans! In May, pandemonium broke loose as Fox announced that Brooklyn Nine-Nine would be cancelled after the fifth season – and Twitter blew up with anger and outrage. Luckily, fans kicked up such a fuss that a day later, NBC came to the rescue and decided to produce a sixth season, which was verified in a statement sent to BuzzFeed News by Robert Greenblatt, chair of NBC, saying: "Ever since we sold this show to Fox I’ve regretted letting it get away, and it’s high time it came back to its rightful home. Mike Schur, Dan Goor, and Andy Samberg grew up on NBC and we’re all thrilled that one of the smartest, funniest, and best cast comedies in a long time will take its place in our comedy line-up. I speak for everyone at NBC, here’s to the Nine-Nine!"
Obviously, the news spread like wildfire after it came straight from the casts Twitter account, thanking the internet for their support and ability to create Twitter chaos. However, the downside to Fox's vicious cancellations is we now have to wait until early 2019 for the 6th season which will have only 13 episodes, pointing to the devastating fact that season 6 may, in fact, be the final season to wrap up the series.
Another hint is that Melissa Fumero wrote on Instagram announcing the news by saying: "Thank you to NBC for giving us the opportunity to finish this special show!" Luckily no shortcuts will be taken in terms of the cast as everyone is in-it-to-win-it for the 6th season.
For those who are new to the show, it includes:
Andy Samberg (Jake Peralta), Stephanie Beatriz (Rosa Diaz), Terry Crews (Terry Jeffords), Melissa Fumero (Amy Santiago), Joe Lo Truglio (Charles Boyle), Chelsea Peretti (Gina Linetti), Andre Braugher (Raymond Holt), Dirk Blocker (Michael Hitchcock) and Joel McKinnon Miller (Norm Scully).
The MVP award definitely goes to NBC on this one. Check out the video for some of Brooklyn Nine-Nine's funniest moments below.
