VIDEO: IT IS A FLOATING BOAT... NOT REALLY, HERE IS WHY!

It can be kind of crazy how your brain can play tricks on you. Sometimes there is an explanation behind every optical-illusion, in this case where it looks like the boat is flying in mid-air it is an unusual and complex form of superior mirage that is seen in a narrow band right above the horizon. 

It is known as Fata Morgana. t is the Italian name for the Arthurian sorceress Morgan le Fay. Fata Morgana mirages significantly distort the object or objects on which they are based, making some of the objects look completely unrecognizable. 

This optical phenomenon occurs because rays of light are bent when they pass through air and layers of different temperatures in a steep thermal inversion where an atmospheric duct has formed.
