VIDEO: IT IS ACTUALLY POSSIBLE TO WALK, RUN AND EVEN SOMERSAULT ON WATER!
Students of the Lamar University recently went viral after filming their latest and most epic experiment to test non-Newtonian properties of fluid substances. It got messy but, at the end of it, they were able to actually walk on water and feel like divine beings of the world. Well, wouldn't you want to walk on water if you could?
So if that sounded like French to you, basically, they were doing an experiment to test the consistency under stress. So its actually a liquid but when a certain amount of pressure is applied to the mixture, it turns to a solid. The students demonstrate this by actually picking up the gooey mixture to show that it is not solid. The mixture was made out of cornstarch and water in a 2:1 ratio.
Who would have thought that such a simple recipe would allow people to walk on water? But, this trick only works if you apply a sudden force onto the mixture, meaning that you have to keep moving! As soon as you stop moving, or applying force, the mixture turns into a liquid again, so the students then sink into a gooey mess. So, with a nod to the wise words from Dory in Finding Nemo, "Just keep moving, moving, moving!"
So, maybe the bible did leave out a couple of things...
