WWE's sweetest couple, John Cena and Nikki Bella, have decided to call the wedding off and go their separate ways after being together for 6 years. The seemingly perfect couple always looked happy and deeply in love.

Having the same career meant that they would have a mutual understanding on the nature of their work but Cena decided to branch out and landed roles in some major movies. This meant he was often working away, turning things into a long distance relationship. Cena admitted that, between both of their heavy work schedules, they sometimes went months without seeing each other – which intensified the problems that already existed. Eventually, Bella decided that Cena wasn't giving her what she needed emotionally.

Even after their proposal in the arena in 2017, they both admitted that their relationship needed a lot of work, sources have revealed that Cena tends to focus on himself and put his own needs first. While Cena delved into the movie scene, which includes in tons of interviews, he often hinted that his relationship was hard which understandably left Bella feeling a bit hurt.

Cena had always made it clear that he had no intention of getting married or starting a family, which was important for Bella. She didn't want to pressure him into walking down the aisle so the proposal came as a surprise, however, sources say that Cena kept acting as if he was doing her a favour by marrying her. His view on marriage and having children ultimately caused him to get cold feet as the wedding date approached.

Many people hold the view that the proposal was in part, a way to rack up publicity for himself, knowing the reactions he would get from the WWE fans, even though he promised Bella that he had changed and would put her needs before his own.

An anonymous source close to the couple commented saying: "Nikki and John truly love each other, but they will never have the same view on a perfect future. Nikki has always dreamt of having a family of her own and John does not want children and that was the main cause of their breakup. They are both dedicated to their careers, but Nikki wants more than just that."

Speculations suggest that the 75 page contract detailing requirements within their relationship that Cena gave to Nikki to sign after their engagement has played a role in the split.

An inside source said: “She’s in a place where she’s just exhausted by some of the things going on in the relationship. John is the love of her life [and] she adores him. They still speak. It’s just very hard. But right now, she has to focus on herself.” Could this suggest a chance of reconciling the relationship at a later stage?
