VIDEO: MICHELLE WOLF TAKES NO PRISONERS AT THE WHITE HOUSE CORRESPONDENT'S DINNER
We all know Michelle Wolf can be blunt in the least sensitive way possible, but this time she used her stage at the White House Correspondents' dinner to take a stab at the journalists and political figures with a spoon, and the results... you should see for yourself because awkward would be an understatement of the year.
Her comedic style is harsh, meaning that she fitted right in on Late Night With Seth Meyers and The Daily Show – which she recently left to host her own HBO special Nice Lady. So, of course, she happily tore apart her comedic victims with a sickly sweet smile in an elegant dress. Her 20-minute set took shots at the media, President Donald Trump, his policies, and administration officials like Sarah Huckabee Sanders who was sitting a couple of meters away and, boy, did she look unimpressed!
The backlash came at the speed of light as journalists and Trump administration officials declared it inappropriate, harsh or, in the words of President Trump himself, an “embarrassment.” The White House Correspondents’ Association released a statement saying the routine didn’t embody “the spirit” of its mission. But Wolf dug her heels in the dirt, saying that she wouldn’t change a word. To be fair, they did hire her for the event knowing her comedic style and history, and it seems Wolf was aiming to hear the shocked gasps and nervous giggles heard in the crowd.
While her content was crass, to say the least (C-SPAN radio reportedly cut away from her routine halfway through instead of running the risk of an indecency fine) none of it was untrue. It also served to uncover the hypocrisy buzzing around the White House and the media because "how dare she comment on another woman's appearance" but Trump seems to do so freely and frequently and the public is meant to take it as a joke.
Do you think Michelle Wolf went too far this time?
