VIDEO: MISS COLOMBIA MAKES AN AMAZING COMEBACK AFTER THE FAMOUS MISS UNIVERSE MISHAP
The unforgettable Miss Universe mishap happened two years ago and it's still a point of many conversations, especially about Ariadna Gutiérrez's and how her life changed forever after the world famous blunder. There is no doubt that being crowned Miss Universe only to be told it was a mistake would have stung for a long time but she doesn't regret a thing!
Steve Harvey, who announced the winner, has obviously addressed the issue countless times during many interviews, saying: "I said the name that was on the card. When I walked off, everything was cool… and then, after that, all hell broke loose. All I heard was people say, 'That's the wrong name'... and all I hear is confusion backstage."
He recounts on The Steve Harvey Morning Show that the direction of the conversation changed when he spoke about the incident with Gutiérrez saying: "Because of a mistake I've made, I cast you into a spotlight, a place, that I never intended to, that I would not want to happen to anybody," he told her at the time. "I just want to say how sorry I am. I really am. I'm beyond sorry for what happened that night and that it was you. At the end of the day, I hope we walk away from this with something special."
But it seems that it's all water under the bridge for Gutiérrez who admitted that the mistake actually gave her many opportunities including starring in the movie xXx: The Return of Xander Cage alongside Vin Diesel, as well as launching her own sunglasses line. In her own words, she said: "It changed my life forever." Steve Harvey even joked with her saying that, "Her family's really kind to me. Her father was who I really wanted to be cool with… because anybody who does this to my daughter, I'm going to being looking for their ass a long time."
It just goes to show that mistakes and failures don't have to define anyone and making opportunities out of those mistakes is the key to being a successful person. Bravo Miss Colombia, beautiful inside and out.
