VIDEO: STEVE IRWIN WILL LIVE ON THE HOLLYWOOD WALK OF FAME
After Steve Irwin was tragically stabbed in the heart by a stingray in 2006 during an episode of Ocean's Deadliest, the world has celebrated his life and his endless contribution to wildlife conservation, with his family keeping his legacy alive.
After many applications to the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce, Steve Irwin has officially been awarded a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame among the biggest names in the world. Irwin’s widow, Terri, and their two children, Bindi and Robert, attended the ceremony on Hollywood Boulevard in Los Angeles as he was awarded the 2,635th star on the Walk of Fame.
Upon accepting the award on behalf of her late husband, Terri said: “Steve always said that he hoped his message of conservation would live on forever. It means the world to us that Steve’s memory will live on in so many ways.” Hundreds of fans gathered for the ceremony, including Australian comedian Rove McManus, celebrity chef Curtis Stone, and TV personality Ross Matthew.
Of course, the family had to take a mandatory wildlife warrior photo over the star with a giant snake (as one does). “This tribute just shows how great his work was and that his impression on people will last for generations to come,” said Irwin’s 14-year-old son, Robert. Bindi gave a short speech, tearing up in front of the crowd as she said: "I never in my wildest dreams imagined this would come true. Together we will continue to fight for everything Dad worked so hard for. He was the best and most incredible conservationist, but also the best dad."
The father of wildlife conservation will live on forever.
