VIDEO: SWEDISH HOUSE MAFIA REUNITE AFTER FIVE YEARS
Fans rejoiced as their favorite trio of Axwell, Steve Angello and Sebastian Ingrosso came together as the Swedish House Mafia at the Ultra Music Festival's 20th anniversary in Miami for their first performance in five years together. They appeared on the main stage at 10pm on Sunday night to play a 50 minute set including hits like Miami 2 Ibiza, Save the World, Greyhound, and a firework performance of One, playing hits that spanned their careers. This year's performance marks exactly five years since their last performance, which also took place at Ultra Music Festival, after which they announced that they would be taking a permanent break, saying, “we reached a point where we didn’t know what the next move would be”.
The surprise performance doesn't seem to be a one-hit-wonder either, as Axwell proclaimed during the group’s set, "This time, it’s for life". When asked why the trio decided to reunite, the group said: "It is time". This announcement comes after months of speculation about the group reuniting as their logo was placed all over the streets of Miami in the weeks leading up to the music festival. In 2016, Axwell hinted at it saying he would be open to reuniting with the group and said: “I think we’re all in our happy places right now. Having said that it would be stupid of me to say never [to a reunion]. “Maybe one day something will happen inside of us that says ‘boom’. But it’s more [likely to be] coming from us than at a festival.”
Thousands of messages of support for the trio flooded in from social media as fans anticipate their next performance.
